Google Shopping Feed for Shopware 6
Shopware is a shop system widely used in the DACH market, and it ships the Google Shopping export as a built-in sales channel. When an extension or a feed tool is worth it beyond that, what it costs, and how the AI layer sharpens your product copy.
Start feed checkHow the feed gets from Shopware 6 into Merchant Center
Shopware ships the path itself: the Produktvergleich (product comparison) sales channel generates an export file, in XML for Google Shopping. It belongs to the feature set of the Shopware Community Edition, which the pricing page lists at € 0 (as of August 2026). One difference to Shopify and WooCommerce: Shopware does not push anything itself, it publishes the file and Google fetches it.
- 1In your sales channel list, create a new sales channel of the Produktvergleich type.
- 2Choose the Google Shopping (XML) template; XML is the right file format for Google Shopping.
- 3Name the storefront sales channel and domain, and define the product set through a dynamic product group.
- 4Set a generation interval and switch on generation via the scheduler.
- 5Register the export URL in Merchant Center as a scheduled fetch; Google then downloads the file itself.

When is the free path enough, and when does a feed tool pay off?
A feed tool pays off when your catalog has requirements the standard path does not cover. Five criteria decide it in practice.
| Criterion | Free path is enough | Feed tool pays off |
|---|---|---|
| Catalog size | Up to a few thousand products with no special cases | Large catalogs that need rules per category |
| Variants | Variants should reach the feed the way your store keeps them | Variants need to be grouped or remapped |
| Countries and languages | One target country, one language | Several countries, currencies, or language feeds |
| Channels | Google Shopping only | Marketplaces, price comparison sites, and social on top |
| Rules and mapping | Titles and categories work as they are in your store | Attributes need rewriting, enriching, or filtering |
For a Shopware store selling into one country with well maintained product data, the built-in channel is enough. An extension or a feed tool gets interesting when you want a direct connection instead of a file fetch, or when several countries and channels enter the picture.

What the optimization layer adds on top of your Shopware 6 feed
When Shopware 6 alone is enough
If your Shopware products carry written-out titles and descriptions and you only run Google Shopping, the built-in export is enough. The XML file is technically complete, and Merchant Center asks for nothing more.
When to add the layer
The export takes your copy exactly as it sits in the store. Short titles, empty attributes, and coarse categories land in the XML file unchanged. The optimization layer starts after that: it scores every product, rewrites titles and descriptions, and fills in missing attributes, in a single run across the whole catalog.
How the two work together
The layer writes a supplemental feed into Merchant Center. Your Produktvergleich export stays the source, the scheduler keeps running, and you approve every change before it goes live and can roll it back at any time.
